About Us
Starburst Dance is a dance program for students ages 3-adult. It hosts classes that meets the needs and desires of its students. There are currently 8 classes being held in River Falls, Wisconsin this year at the Country Inn (behind McDonalds).
What makes us different?
* small class sizes (8-10 dancers max. per class)
* no uniform or specific shoe colors (preferably pink ballets but it's more about the dancing than the shoe color).
* dance recitals are free to attend. No tickets necessary
* 7 month dance season vs. 10 months.
* performing for local nursing homes for our Holiday and Spring shows.
I love, Love, LOVE dance and the joy it brings me to dance can only be replaced by seeing the joy in my dancers.
In the fall of 2007, I started Starburst Dance with 9 students. We performed for a small audience but the thrill my students had on stage confirmed my desire to continue this small program.
In 2014, I was told that the space I was renting was being converted and wouldn't be available for dance. I saw this as a sign that maybe it was time to let this "dance thing" go. So I said goodbye to my 33 students and hung up my shoes for a while.
One year later, after attending countless recitals for fellow students and family, my desire to bring back Starburst won out. I found a wonderful local business who would be willing to rent me a space for a few hours a week and the year hiatus of Starburst was over.

All classes are taught by Starla Dixen. (BS Elementary Education, M.Ed Educational Administration, dance instructor since 1988). I have taught for Woodbury Dance Center, Helmer Dance and choreographed for the UW-River Falls Dance Theatre.
I am married and both of my children have danced both with me and area studios. I have 3 fabulous assistants who help keep me organized. I am so blessed to live in a community who supports the arts and feels it should be available to everyone - young and old.
It is truly a gift to be able to teach your child dance. It fills my soul when I see them perform as confident dancers when they started the year nervous and unsure but willing to take a risk. This is their time to shine and the growth they have in those 7 months is AMAZING!!
Thank you for supporting the arts, all of our dancers and for taking the time to be part of our Starburst Dance family.
